Student Speaker Applications

The College of Liberal Arts has a tradition of selecting a graduating senior to speak at the fall commencement ceremony. This is a unique opportunity for a graduate to sit among faculty and other distinguished members of the University of Minnesota community while they address their fellow graduates, friends, and family.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please submit the following by Monday, November 3:
  • Cover sheet with your name, major, and contact information (phone and email)
  • Speech proposal (1-2 pages) about why you would like to speak at commencement and the topic you would like to address
Student representatives of CLA Commencement Committee and CLA Student Board will review all submissions and interview the top three applicants for each ceremony before making their decision.
