Do I have the background classes that I will need?

The academic requirements for graduate schools differ widely depending on which program you are considering and to which schools you wish to apply. Investigating graduate school options early may make it easier to identify possible academic requirements before you finish your undergraduate degree.

Helpful Resources
  • For general guidelines: The Career and Community Learning Center has resources that can offer general guidelines on which courses to take, based on programs' requirements and preferences.
  • For specific course-related questions: College of Liberal Arts students applying to programs other than law schools should see their academic adviser.
  • For law school: Students applying to law schools should consult with Janelle Larson, jlarson@class.cla.umn.edu, (612) 624-7577, the Pre-Law adviser in the Career and Community Learning Center. Also, check out the CCLC's pre-law advising site for tips and resources.
